Akagera National Park is home to many large plain wildlife species that provide a great wildlife safari experience, as well as other species restricted to the papyrus swamps such as the Sitatunga and the sought-after Shoebill Stork. Notable plain games include the giant African elephants, buffaloes, topis, zebras, waterbucks, roan antelopes and elands among others.
