Day 1: Kigali   – Akagera National Park   (2h 30min drive)   (Boat launch & game drives)

06h00: You will be picked up from your Hotel and proceed to Akagera National Park.

Upon arrival at the park headquarters, you will have a briefing at the park headquarters.

You will embark on a game drive viewing enroute to Lake Ihema. Lining the lakes are some of the continent’s densest concentrations of water birds, while the connecting marshes are the haunt of the endangered and exquisite papyrus gonolek, and the bizarre shoebill stork – the latter perhaps the most eagerly sought of all African birds.

The game drive in Akagera National Park provides you with the opportunity to see the newly re-introduced king of the jungle (Lions) as well as viewing gentle hills blending beautifully with lowland swamps and water bodies. You will visit the hippo pool, Giraffe area in the south and the lakes road up towards Birengero.

Lunch at Ruzizi Tented Camp. Afternoon boat cruise you will go for a boat excursion on Lake Ihema, which will take you to the island that is inhabitant to several species of birds. Day 2: Behind the Scenes – Akagera National Park.

For additional insights into Akagera, take a ‘behind-the-scenes’ tour of park headquarters, where you’ll meet employees integral to park management while learning about exciting conservation developments.

Day 3: Akagera National Park(Game drive viewing) – Kigali (2h 30mins drive)

Have breakfast at the lodge and check out. You will proceed on a day’s en-route game drive in the park with picnic lunches. This will give you an opportunity to tour the northern part of the park.

The game drive in Akagera National Park provides you with the opportunity to see the newly re-introduced king of the jungle (Lions) as well as viewing gentle hills blending beautifully with lowland swamps and water bodies. You will visit the hippo pool, Giraffe area in the south and the lakes road up towards Birengero.

You will then exit the park through the northern gate and have a leisurely drive back to KIGALI. You will be dropped at your hotel or transferred to the airport for departure.
