Rutete Eco-Lodge is the brainchild of two close friends (Olivier and Julie) who chose to take on an adventure that reflects their values and dreams. The latter was born and raised in the small village of Rwinkwavu in Rwanda’s Eastern Province while the former grew up in the neighboring Democratic Republic of Congo. While these two friends had mixed backgrounds, they both were passionate about the Continent (Africa) and believed in its potential hence establishing a project that allows them to exchange ideas and knowledge. Although they had different paths, that didn’t stop them from bringing together and adorning with the same passion that shines the light on the breathtaking beauty of the African Continent.
Rooms and amenities at Rutete Eco-Lodge
This small Eco-Lodge has only four rooms hence providing seclusion and privacy.
Bungalow with a patio
This 25-square-meter room accommodates a maximum of two guests and features a patio, private entrance, and garden view. Some of the amenities in this room are an en-suite bathroom (shower, towels, eco-toilet, and toilet paper), wardrobe/closet, bedside socket, clothes rack, and mosquito net-draped bed.
The Bungalow
The Rutete Eco-Lodge Bungalow is 30 square meters and sits on the ground floor featuring a private entrance and patio. Additionally, there is wheelchair accessibility, an en-suite bathroom (with eco-toilet, a shower, towels, and toiletries), a bedside socket, a comfortable bed with a mosquito net, and others.
Bungalow with Garden View
This room type is 30 square meters and provides guests with views of the verdant forest garden, and the towering mountains. This Bungalow has a private entrance, patio, private bathroom (with an eco-toilet, towels, and a shower), cozy bed with a mosquito net, and a wardrobe/closet, to mention but a few.
Other facilities and services offered at Rutete Eco-Lodge
Rutete Eco-Lodge also features a beautiful and spacious restaurant with great views of the mountains, gardens, a picnic area for unwinding while taking in views of the natural surroundings, BBQ facilities where guests are treated to grilled meat options while interacting with friends and family, laundry services, a shared Lounge/TV area, an outdoor fireplace, sundeck, and many others. However, there is no internet access at Rutete Eco-Lodge.
Activities
Rutete Eco-Lodge guests have an opportunity of hiking in the surroundings and explore Akagera National Park via game drives, boat rides, hot air balloon tours, guided bush walks, community tours, and birding tours among others.
In fact, Rwanda is a great choice for combining safari and gorilla trekking holiday, with heavenly natural forest, home to these greatest primates. It’s where the whole idea of luxury gorilla safaris begins from.
