Your night’s safari at Karenge Bush Camp is simply about combining unmatched privacy, and laid-back elegance with a unique touch of a real African wilderness experience. The name “Karenge” means “small footprint” and is a representation of this Bush Camp’s commitment to leaving almost nothing more than just a light ecological footprint.
Right from its operations and nature of accommodation, Karenge Bush Camp leaves a small ecological footprint and this is one of the things that makes it worth experiencing during your Rwanda wildlife safari in Akagera National Park. One of the things that interests travelers is the fact that the Bush Camp is closed during certain months. Well, Karenge Bush Camp is only open for Eleven months of the year and remains closed during the month of April to allow rejuvenation/regrowth of vegetation.
Since its opening in 2016, Karenge Bush Camp has been providing extraordinary stays for visitors interested in experiencing what it means to be in a real African wilderness Paradise, and during that time, it was only open from June to August, and from December to February 2017.
A night’s safari at Karenge Bush Camp involves staying in one of the 6 charming Canvas Tents that can accommodate up to 12 guests each night thus providing the much-deserved intimate African Wilderness Experience.
Each of the Canvas Tents at Karenge Bush Camp is secluded with two cozy Camp beds (having comfortable mattresses and clean linen), traditional reed mat floors, and indoor and outdoor Camp chairs for relaxing after your meal or after a long day of discovering Akagera National Park, private indoor and outdoor bathrooms (with clean towels, bucket showers, Canvas basins, toiletries, toilets and a provision of warm water each day). The Camp is run with solar energy which further provides assurance of the Bush Camp’s commitment to leaving a small ecological footprint. The Camp was constructed with traditional and eco-friendly materials and while staying here, guests are treated to endless views of Lake Ihema and the sweeping savanna plains that are dotted with lots of animals.
The Canvas Tents have been raised off the ground to minimize animal disruption and increase guest assurance of safety.
