Facts about Black Rhinos in Akagera: The reintroduction of 18 Rhinos in Akagera National Park was in May 2017 as a conservation milestone, expanding the range of the species. 10 female and 8 males were brought to Akagera National Park from South Africa ranging in age from 14 months to 24 years old. Their arrival restores Akagera’s status as a ‘big five’ Wildlife park in Rwanda
In 2019, Five Endangered Black Rhinos from European Zoos were brought in Rwanda’s Akagera National Park.
